Marcus & I spent the last few days before Christmas babysitting Cecilia & Thomas when their parents were out of town.
Christmas season to adults= cooking, shopping, stress, cleaning, rushing, working, guilt, to-do lists, last minute gifts, hours of wrapping, post-office, losing sight of what it is all about.
Christmas season to Cecilia & Thomas= baby Jesus, baby Jesus, baby Jesus. These kids really, really get it. They spent the last few days before Christmas “playing” Mary & Joseph,” asking me to read the story of the first Christmas, playing with their nativity sets, helping to wrap presents & cook. Santa who?! I am really proud of the way my sister & her husband are raising these two in the faith. While I am sure Cecilia & Thomas liked opening a few gifts on Christmas, I have a feeling they enjoyed mass on Christmas day even more. They couldn’t wait to put baby Jesus in the manger. They tell me how St. Nicholas lives in Heaven. They memorized Away in a Manger {and sang it at the top of their lungs while we were driving around looking at Christmas lights} Don’t get me wrong…they are still 4 year old balls of energy BUT they have the strongest Catholic faith around! Marcus & I were blessed to see Christmas through their eyes!
